I am the first to admit that I was once a Candy Crush addict. On the rare occasion that I had a little bit of spare time it was always my go to. On the bus to work, when the kids were napping, sometimes even while sitting on the toilet. Unfortunately, like a lot of great games, it ran its course and eventually got too repetitive. I’ve tried hard to find a worthy replacement and I think this one is it. Panda Pop was pretty good, and Cookie Jam definitely helped fill the void for a while, but no game could hold my attention quite that the beautiful mistress that was Candy Crush.
Just when I’d given up hope, I may have stumbled across something amazing!
I recently started playing a new game called Gummy Drop, and I think I may have found “the one”. I went into it with low expectations, mainly just hoping for a few good weeks of play on another cheesy matching game. A change of scenery is always nice, right?
Apparently, I was wrong! Of course, it has some similarities I expected, like a delicious sounding name and cutesy graphics, but beneath the surface, it had a lot more “game” than I could have asked for. The play style is fresh, the difficulty progression is much more digestible (it gets really difficult but at a much smoother pace), and you can actually make it through levels without being forced to buy any sort of boosters or items. I don’t want to spoil it, but the developer has added some new bells and whistles that I’ve never imagined in a game like this.
Needless to say, I am beyond excited that I can finally go back to
wasting spending time on something that gives me the same warm fuzzies I got that first night I played Candy Crush. Who knows, maybe true love can happen twice.
Warning: This is strictly my opinion and some people might prefer the other games mentioned, but many agree that Gummy Drop has arrived in a big way. If you’re in the mood to try something new, go ahead and download the game here let us know what you think!
